Resolution #14 Policy Regarding Illegal Signs in Town Road Right of Ways

RESOLUTION #14-2023

Policy Regarding Illegal Signs in Town Road Right of Ways

WHEREAS the Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance requires a permit for all signs in Sawyer County with the exception of local government signs and on-premise real estate (or other specified) signs authorized on a person’s private property, and

WHEREAS there is a growing trend to post advertising, real estate, and other temporary signs in and along public road right of ways as a form of advertising in violation of the county ordinance, and

WHEREAS those signs, especially those with wire stakes, pose an unsightly appearance to drivers, create blowing debris and trash along the roadways, and most importantly are a nuisance and hazard to the town crew operating roadside equipment,

The Town Board hereby resolves that SIGNS PLACED ILLEGALLY IN TOWN OF DRAPER RIGHT OF WAYS ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE TOWN OF DRAPER AND WILL BE REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF WHEN OBSERVED.

Signs that are replaced will result in notice to Sawyer County Zoning for code enforcement.
