Lake Loretta
Lake Loretta residents- the boards are in the dam now- water levels are low everywhere so this affects the lake. The Upper Brunet River that feeds the lake originates as a tiny stream in Draper, so there isn’t a lot of water above the lake to fill it. Remember, it is a flowage!
The Upper Brunet River wildlife area is managed by DNR, USFS and Sawyer County- the Town of Draper does not determine the water level- we only store the dam boards in the town garage.
The dam is scheduled for rehabilitation in 2021-2022. Sawyer County will draw down the water in order to work on the dam- this will tentatively take place in the fall, depending on a grant for the project.
The Town Board will invite Tim Seidl, who manages the waterways for Sawyer County including Lake Loretta, to the Town Board Meeting on August 9th for a question and answer session for the Lake residents.
